An open web steel joist connects flush to a supporting structural steel beam using a web plate provided by the joist supplier with a minimum thickness of one-half inch. The connection features bolted or welded attachments with typical spacing dimensions of one and one-half inches and three inches. The joist relies on manufacturer-specified flush framing configurations to align the top chords of the members.
