Two steel beams meet at a change in slope forming a broken back joint connected by complete joint penetration welds across the web and top and bottom flanges. Weld access holes are provided at the web-to-flange intersections to facilitate the complete joint penetration welding of the beam profile. Complete joint penetration welds are specified typically for the top and bottom flanges as well as the web connection.
