Wide-flange beams frame into the column flange and web with specific no-weld zones indicated per detail 4/S0.9. Stiffener plates are welded to each side of the column web with quarter-inch fillet welds. At the roof level, 3-inch by 3-inch by 1/4-inch angles are provided on each side of the beam, while at the floor level, 5-1/2 inch by 3-inch by 1/4-inch bent plates are used. Sixteen-gauge closure plates are installed on two sides, and metal deck spans across the framing with specified clearances including a half-inch minimum and quarter-inch maximum typical dimension.
