An HSS beam connects to an HSS column using L4x3x3/8 angles placed at the top and bottom of the beam flange and sized to the beam width. The angles are welded to the column and beam with quarter-inch fillet welds on three sides. A maximum one-quarter-inch gap is maintained between the beam end and the column face.
