This assembly consists of a three-inch thick ASTM A572 Grade 50 steel base plate secured by eight two-inch diameter ASTM F1554 Grade 105 fully threaded anchor bolts with three-foot embedment. Each anchor bolt passes through a three-and-a-quarter-inch diameter hole in the base plate and is topped with a three-quarter-inch by five-inch square plate washer with a standard hole. The column is connected to the base plate using complete joint penetration welds with demand critical welds. One-inch diameter inspection holes are provided in the base plate, and a shear lug is located beneath the plate to resist lateral forces.
