A 1 1/2 inch diameter steel pipe handrail is mounted on top of the stair stringer in accordance with California Building Code requirements. A three-sided 3/16 inch fillet weld secures the assembly at the handrail post. A one-quarter inch thick stiffener plate is provided at the handrail post typically.
