A 3-inch by 12-gauge Grade 50 steel strap is placed over roof sheathing and fastened with thirty 10d nails at each side of the truss, configured in two rows staggered at 2 inches on center typical at 4 feet on center unless noted otherwise. Roof sheathing is nailed with two rows of edge nailing on top of the 3-inch minimum members where strap ties occur. Wood rafters bear on a Simpson hanger tied to the top chord of a steel bar joist sized per the framing plan. Sub-purlins sized 3 by 4 at 4 feet on center occur at the strap, while 4 by 6 members at 4 feet on center are used in the first bay adjacent to the wall.
