An angle brace connects to a steel beam running parallel to the metal deck above, utilizing angle sizes determined by the brace length such as L4x4x3/8 for lengths under six feet and L6x6x3/8 for lengths between six and ten feet. A three-eighths-inch plate may be field welded to the beams at the contractor's option. The top connection to the beam is similar to the connection at the bottom of the beam.
