A steel column supports a three-quarter-inch thick cap plate connected with two three-quarter-inch diameter A307 machine bolts at each end. Three-eighth-inch thick stiffener plates are welded to the column web and cap plate with five-sixteenth-inch fillet welds. A six-inch by seven-eighth-inch by two-foot-five-inch plate sits above the connection, while adjacent steel beams are detailed with framing clearances and specified weld sizes. A continuous steel beam is omitted from view for clarity at the column centerline.
