A wide flange steel column is encased within a reinforced concrete shear wall with three-quarter-inch diameter by three-inch headed studs welded to the flanges at eight inches on center vertically. At wide flange columns without side plates, studs are placed on the web with a maximum spacing of one foot two inches. Vertical reinforcing bars and headed reinforcement extend through the wall boundary element. The steel shape size is specified per elevations.
