This concrete slab construction joint detail requires all slab reinforcement to extend continuously through the joint. The keyway depth measures one-half of the slab thickness typically, with alternate contractor options allowing the entire contact surface to be intentionally roughened. Keyway dimensions include a 1 1/2 inch offset from the edge of the slab, with keyway lengths spaced at six inches minimum and thirty inches maximum.
