A channel stair stringer connects to a hollow structural section column designated as HSS10x4. A one-quarter-inch plate is welded to the face of the structural tube using three-sixteenth-inch fillet welds. The channel stringer attaches to this connection plate with two three-quarter-inch diameter A325-N bolts. The top of the HSS column and the channel stringer align horizontally. A maximum three-quarter-inch gap is maintained between the stringer and the support.
