Steel beams of differing depths frame into opposite sides of a column flange with bolted shear tabs and welded top and bottom plates. The shear tab thickness equals the beam web thickness plus one-quarter inch. Continuity plates are installed at the top and bottom flange levels using the larger thickness of either TF1 or TF2, as detailed in detail E. A slope bottom plate is provided when the beam slope is less than three inches, and a second row of bolts is included as required per plan. Field and shop welding requirements are designated along the flange connections, with a three-inch minimum typical spacing for bolt groups.
