A structural steel column connects to a two-inch thick base plate with a yield strength of fifty kilopounds per square inch, anchored by eight anchor bolts arranged symmetrically around the profile. Individual plate washers measuring one-half by four by four inches distribute the bolt tension across the top of the base plate. A fillet weld of one-half inch size or per American Institute of Steel Construction minimum requirements secures the column flanges and web to the base plate. The column size is determined per the column schedule, and column orientation is coordinated with the structural framing plans.
