A one-sided framing connection ties a supported steel beam to a carrying girder or beam. The supported beam web is fastened with three bolts to a connector plate welded to the supporting member web. The bottom flange of the supported beam is coped as required with a clearance dimension matching the AISC manual k-distance. Short slotted horizontal holes in the shear plate are permitted at the fabricator's option, while standard holes are required in the beam web. Offset framing conditions require treating the connection as two-sided when centerlines are within twelve inches.
