Structural framing and connections for a typical skylight blockout feature a hollow structural section member supported by a ledger and reinforced with side plates. A three-eighths-inch by three-inch by zero-foot-six-inch plate is welded to each side of the hollow structural section using specified fillet welds, with side plates welded to the ledger. Additional welds are provided as shown at each hollow structural section, and the hollow structural section is coped at the ledger. Framing components include double two-by-six minimum members, double two-by sub-purlins, roof purlins sized per plan, and a roof drain positioned per architectural drawings.
