A continuous steel shear plate passes through slots cut in the opposing walls of a hollow structural section column to support incoming framing beams. The shear plate is fillet welded to the column web with a five-sixteenths inch weld typical at the intersecting beam web. Framing beam webs connect to the extended shear plate with bolts. A one-inch offset dimension locates the connection relative to the column centerline.
