A concrete slab step features a maximum six-inch height difference, with continuous top and bottom reinforcing bars. Additional number four bars spaced at twelve inches minimum are required over the lap splice length when top bars are absent. The horizontal lap splice length LTB is dimensioned with specific offset and spacing restrictions not greater than the smaller of six inches or LTB divided by five.
