A wide flange beam connects to a concrete wall via a 3/8-inch by 9-inch by H-length embed plate anchored by headed studs arranged in two rows spaced at 6 inches on center horizontally and 5 inches on center vertically. A 3/8-inch by 4-inch by L-length plate is welded to the embed plate and connected to the beam web with erection bolts in slotted holes as required. The connection uses a 5/16-inch fillet weld with 2-1/2-inch returns at the top and bottom, along with 1/4-inch typical fillet welds. The top of the embedded plate aligns with the top of the beam, maintaining a 2-1/2-inch minimum distance from the top of the wall.
