A structural steel braced frame connection features a wide-flange beam intersecting hollow structural section braces through a one-half inch gusset plate. Three-eighths inch stiffener plates span full width on both sides of the beam web and gusset plate, welded with five-sixteenths inch fillet welds typical. The slotted braces include an erection bolt installed by the contractor, with a one-inch minimum lap length and welds sized per drawing notes. The slot in the brace is centered and one-eighth inch larger than the gusset plate thickness, with specific maximum dimensions for the X and Y offsets.
