A structural steel beam-to-column web connection accommodates beams with differing depths on opposite sides of the column. A welded shear tab is utilized whose thickness equals the beam web thickness plus one-fourth inch. Continuity plates are provided at the top and bottom flanges of the column, with sizes and configurations coordinated per the structural schedule. Edge distance and bolt spacing adhere to AISC specifications. A second row of bolts is added as required by plan design, and continuity plates may be omitted on one side if the spacing dimension is less than three inches.
