A new structural steel angle is notched at its horizontal leg to fit around the existing ledger and joist top chord, placed adjacent to every bolt. The assembly ties into an existing masonry wall via three-quarter-inch diameter threaded rods spaced at forty-eight inches on center, backed by three-eighths by six by six-inch steel plates on the exterior face. Every masonry cell receiving a through-bolt must be verified as grouted solid, or filled solid if found hollow. The existing steel angle is drilled rather than thermally burned for the through-bolt penetration. A three-sixteenths-inch typical fillet weld secures the new angle to the existing steel angle assembly, while the existing roof deck is fastened with number ten screws at twelve inches on center.
