Angle braces measuring 3x3x1/4 spaced at 10'-0" on center connect the bottom flange of a central steel beam to adjacent steel bar joists. The roof assembly consists of plywood sheathing over a 4x nailer attached with 7/8 inch diameter wood screws at 12 inches on center and two rows of bolts. Three-sixteenths inch fillet welds secure the angle braces to the beam and joist webs. An additional 1/4 inch fillet weld with a 3 inch length connects the brace to the beam flange. Notes specify to weld the angle braces to the beam after the roof is installed, coordinate brace locations with sprinkler pipes, and keep braces within 6 inches of the top chord panel point or install an auxiliary web.
