A hollow structural section member is secured between two vertical steel plates measuring three-eighths by two and one-half by zero feet seven and one-half inches on each side. Two three-quarter-inch diameter machine bolts pass through the plates and clamp the assembly, spaced at two and one-half inches and one and one-quarter inches with a two and one-eighth inch clearance from the base. The vertical plates are welded to the supporting steel element with five-sixteenths inch fillet welds on both sides.
