A structural steel column supports framing beams connected with bolted shear tabs and a metal roof deck. A hollow structural section measuring HSS 4x4x3/8 extends one foot above the column top and receives a one-inch diameter rod loop at its apex. A three-quarter-inch thick cap plate seals the top of the hollow structural section with quarter-inch fillet welds. A five-sixteenth-inch fillet weld secures the base of the hollow structural section to a column cap plate or continuity plate located above the framing. The assembly accommodates a window washing davit where required.
