Permissible penetration locations within reinforced concrete coupling beams types 2 and 3. Penetrations are restricted to a maximum diameter of four inches above and below the main reinforcement zone. A minimum clearance of one inch must be maintained from diagonal reinforcement to prevent interference. Four inches of minimum clear space is required at the top and bottom of the beam. Reference typical coupling beam types 2 and 3 for complete reinforcement layout and sizing.
