A hollow structural section HSS10x6 steel member supports the canopy roof assembly with its top of steel positioned per plan. A three-eighths-inch end plate is welded flush to the end of the structural tube with a three-sixteenths-inch fillet weld. A continuous angle measuring four by four by one-half inches is welded along the top edge of the end plate with a field-welded connection. The roof deck bears directly over the structural steel framing sized per plan, secured with a one-quarter-inch fillet weld.
