The assembly features a hollow structural section column welded to a 1 1/2 inch thick base plate with a complete joint penetration weld. The base plate is secured to the concrete foundation with eight 1 inch diameter anchor bolts, each requiring a double top nut. A gusset plate, provided by the buckling restrained brace supplier, connects to the column and base plate assembly. The connection is situated within a concrete block-out in the slab, with the slab thickness and reinforcing specified per the structural plans. The work point for the brace is established at the base plate interface.
