This assembly consists of a steel beam supporting a gusset plate connection for buckling restrained braces. A three-quarter inch stiffener plate is welded to the near side and far side of the beam web at the work point. The gusset plate, with a minimum thickness of one and one-half inches, is welded to the beam flange with a minimum seven-sixteenths inch fillet weld. The buckling restrained brace connection, including bolt size and pattern, is provided by others and subject to deferred submittal review. Beam web hole penetrations are strictly prohibited within the width of the gusset plate, and any proposed penetrations require engineer of record approval prior to fabrication.
