A steel column supports a steel cap plate at its top, providing a bearing surface for steel beams framing in from each side. The beams attach with bolted shear connections using multiple vertical bolts. A two-and-a-half-inch deep joist bears on the cap plate and is secured with two half-inch diameter erection bolts. A steel deck spans across the top of the assembly. A stabilizer plate is attached to the column web below, and a general note specifies not to weld bottom chords to stabilizer plates unless otherwise noted.
