A steel beam connects to a steel column using a one-quarter-inch by six-inch by zero-foot-ten-inch plate secured by four three-quarter-inch diameter machine bolts spaced at seven inches on center. A three-sixteenth-inch fillet weld connects the column to the plate assembly. A concrete slab over metal deck spans over the steel beam typically.
