An angle brace connects the bottom flange of a wide-flange beam to the panel point of an adjacent open web steel joist. The assembly consists of an L102x102x6.4 structural angle attached to an eight-millimeter connection plate welded to the web and bottom flange of the W-beam. A bolt fastens the angle brace at the gusset connection, transferring lateral forces of plus or minus twenty kilonewtons. The angle extends diagonally to meet the bottom chord of the OWSJ at a maximum slope.
