An overhead door girt connects to an HSS post using three-eighths-inch plates welded to each side of the HSS section with a quarter-inch fillet weld. Seven-eighths-inch diameter through bolts centered on the post pass through one-and-a-half-inch vertical slotted holes to accommodate movement. The assembly includes a quarter-inch cap plate welded to the top of the post with a three-sixteenths-inch fillet weld. Bolts are installed finger tight and thread-damaged to allow slip. The HSS post and girt sizes follow the elevations.
