A steel column and a buckling-restrained brace connect to a base plate anchored to a reinforced concrete footing with anchor bolts and a shear lug. The steel column features two heavy hex nuts with plate washers and is rotated 90 degrees at similar conditions. The gusset plate and connection are provided by the buckling-restrained brace supplier, with complete-joint-penetration welds indicated. A two-inch grout layer sits beneath the base plate over a concrete pour back and slab-on-grade. A 2-inch by 10-inch by 2-foot-4-inch 50 ksi shear lug is welded to the base plate and embedded into a grout pocket in the footing, flanked by two additional number 9 by 8-foot bars on each side. The footing is thickened as required and includes anchor bolt embedment plates with three-inch cover and top bars bent around the shear lug.
