Continuity plate thickness must be at least the beam flange thickness plus one-eighth inch, with a fillet weld size equal to five-eighths of the continuity plate thickness applied on three sides. Fillet welds require a one-and-a-half-inch minimum holdback and must be placed away from the column k-areas, maintaining a maximum distance of one-half inch from the k1 dimension.
