Connection of metal decking and diaphragm bracing across a seismic gap supported by existing steel wide-flange beams. The assembly features an existing W18x35 beam carrying an existing central plant expansion deck and an existing W24x68 beam carrying an existing central plant deck, separated by a seismic gap referenced to drawing B.33. The new metal deck configuration specifies 3N 16-gauge deck with 32/5 exterior and interior attachment, secured using three-quarter-inch-diameter arc spot welds, one-and-a-half-inch top arc seam welds at four inches on center at sidelaps, and three-quarter-inch-diameter arc spot welds at four inches on center at perpendicular supports.
