An open web steel joist bears directly on a steel column flange, accompanied by a 6"x1/2"xcolumn width plate and a stabilizer plate welded to the column. The steel deck spans continuously across the top chord of the joist and column support. Connection hardware secures the joist top chord to an angle seat fastened to the column assembly.
