Steel beams frame into a supporting girder using a combined moment and shear connection detail. Complete joint penetration welds are specified at the top and bottom flanges typically. A three-eighths-inch thick partial height shear tab bolts to the beam web with typical edge distances and spacings. A three-eighths-inch full height stiffener is provided at single-sided beam locations to reinforce the girder web.
