An equal depth wide-flange beam connects to a wide-flange girder utilizing complete joint penetration welds at both top and bottom flanges. A typical shear plate connection with slip-critical bolts secures the beam web to the girder web. The slab deck is split and the concrete fill is thickened as required to accommodate the framing geometry. Flanges are aligned as required for the complete joint penetration welds.
