A W6 or W8 wide-flange supported beam connects to a supporting wide-flange beam using a three-eighths-inch thick shear plate welded to the supporting web with quarter-inch fillet welds. The supported beam flange is coped as required with a three-quarter-inch maximum clearance from the support web. The connection is secured with bolts sized per the structural schedule at a two-and-a-half-inch vertical spacing and configured with standard edge and pitch dimensions.
