This seismic gap detail accommodates a total movement of plus or minus ten inches between structural steel beams carrying metal deck. A half-inch thick continuous Fabreeka PT FE/SBX bearing pad is epoxy-bonded to a ten-gauge carbon steel plate, positioned below a half-inch thick full-width bridge plate containing one-foot eight-inch long slotted holes. Seven-eighth-inch diameter A325N bolts at nine inches on center with standard holes secure the connection, with bolts located in the center of the long slotted holes. Stiffener plates measuring three-eighths of an inch are spaced at twelve inches on center on each side of the beams, welded with quarter-inch and three-sixteenth-inch fillets. Additional connection is made using six-by-four-by-three-eighth-inch long-leg-horizontal angles between plates and quarter-inch fillet welds.
