A structural steel beam frames into a hollow structural section column with three-eighths inch thick plates welded to each side of the web. The connection utilizes bent plates measuring three-eighths by eight inches by one foot six inches with five-sixteenths inch stiffener plates welded typical. Additional three-eighths by eight by zero-foot eight-and-one-half-inch plates are detailed at the top and bottom flanges. One-quarter-inch fillet welds secure the connection components as indicated by typical welding symbols.
