A structural steel moment frame connection joins steel beams to a steel column using welded flange plates and bolted shear plates. A572 Grade 50 plates matching the beam flange thickness plus six millimeters align with the top of the beam flange. Additional ten millimeter plates and standard round holes in the beam and shear plate are specified per Steel Detail SC1 Table A. Continuity plates are provided at the top and bottom of the connection, with corners clipped as required. The steel column extends twenty above the beam flange at the roof.
