A structural steel column per plan supports a cap plate measuring 3/4 inch by the column flange width plus 1 inch by the column depth plus 1 inch. The cap plate connects to the supported beam per plan using four 3/4-inch diameter bolts set at the beam gauge. Partial-height stiffener plates measuring 3/8 inch are welded to both sides of the web, matching the beam flange width and aligned with the column flanges. A connection for a perpendicular beam is provided per specification 05210 using a shear tab extended to the bottom flange. A one-quarter-inch fillet weld is used typically throughout the assembly.
