An HSS6x6 structural steel post connects to a square base plate anchored to a concrete foundation. The base plate measures 3/4 inch thick by 10 inches square and is secured with four 3/4-inch diameter anchor bolts embedded 6 inches into the concrete. A 5/16-inch fillet weld typically joins the HSS post to the top of the base plate. A 1 1/2-inch layer of non-shrink grout fills the space beneath the base plate to the top of the concrete. The assembly sets at the top of concrete elevation with equal bolt spacings.
