This plan section details a concrete masonry unit wall control joint utilizing a preformed joint filler insert at the exterior face. A backer rod and sealant are applied to each side of the joint to maintain weather tightness while allowing movement. Sash blocks are provided on each side of the control joint. Vertical wall reinforcement is specified per the reinforcement schedule in the first cell on each side of the joint. Horizontal wire reinforcement and horizontal bond beam reinforcement do not extend through the joint except at floor or roof diaphragm levels.
