A four-inch concrete slab on grade features a construction joint with rounded edges on each side possessing a one-eighth-inch radius. Joint dowels consist of five-eighth-inch diameter by eighteen-inch slip dowels spaced at eighteen inches on center, or four-and-a-half by four-and-a-half-inch diamond dowels at twenty-four inches on center, or an approved equal. Reinforcing bars are discontinued at the cold construction joint with a two-inch clearance.
