A structural steel chevron brace connects to the underside of a beam using a gusset plate and bolted connections on both sides of the centerline. The working point is located at one-half the actual beam depth. A half-inch thick gusset stiffener is welded to both sides of the gusset plate with weld sizes specified in drawing notes. Bracing members attach to the gusset plate with multiple bolts arranged in a symmetric pattern. Additional welded connections and stiffener plates are provided as detailed for structural load transfer.
