A bond breaker is installed between the existing pile cap and the new mat slab and concrete wall. The assembly features a concrete encasement around the structural steel column bearing on or passing through the existing pile cap. A built-up slab on polystyrene sits adjacent to the vertical concrete enclosure. An eight-inch minimum clear distance is maintained.
