An elevator rail support assembly is anchored to a concrete slab edge using a continuous hollow structural section steel beam. An embed plate measuring 1/2 inch by 12 inches by slab thickness is cast into the concrete slab with four 1/2-inch diameter by 6-inch long welded headed studs. A hollow structural section beam is connected to the embed plate via a 1/4-inch thick by 4-inch wide by 6-inch long plate on each side, secured with two 3/4-inch diameter through bolts in horizontal short slotted holes to allow for adjustment. A maximum 1/2-inch gap is maintained between the concrete slab and the steel assembly, and 3/16-inch typical fillet welds secure the connection plates. Slab edge reinforcement consists of number 4 top and bottom bars extending 48 inches minimum.
